This is a song about questioning conventional wisdom,

They say life is what you make it. I don’t know.
But I think it might be true.
My life sure seems to be affected by my attitude.

They say you can’t buy your happiness. I don’t know.
I only know that it might be.
I’ve seen some poor happy people and some rich misery.

Chorus:
You’ve been dealt your hand in life, play the cards.
Can’t condone the bitch and moan.
Seems unfair, some have money, and some have it hard.
But, don’t judge a life by the size of the tombstone.

They say it’s not what you say, it’s what you do.
So much that never gets begun.
Talk is cheap, it can keep you from what needs to be done.

They say life is a play, we’re on a stage.
I want three things if that is true.
Give me union scale, better lighting, and one good review.

Chorus

They say nothing lasts forever. I don’t know.
But when I look around I see,
So many clinging to so much, it seems tragic to me.

They say that life is a mystery. I don’t know.
So I guess it is to me.
But it’s by design, I’ll do fine. That’s how I like it to be.

Chorus
